[ccccip] Publishers sue university over publication of classreading materials

Jessica,
I would as well. Our library here has cracked down to the point
that faculty in English approached the Department chair to ask what could be
done. I attended a web conference on online reserves and posted a specific
question about them to Ken Crews of IUPUI. He is probably the best person
we could get on this issue as he is a librarian and (I think) an attorney
and runs the Copyright Center at IUPUI. This issue crosses concerns over
the disappearance of fair use, another issue that I am working on these
days.
Cheers,
jrg

Jessica,
I'd be willing to help out with or participate in an action table on
coursepacks. Although [standard disclaimer to follow] I can't offer any
special legal expertise in this area, I have been following the topic for
some time with a great deal of interest. Ideally for this table, or for the
caucus in general, it would be good to have non-composition people on hand
to lend their perspectives -- copyright lawyers, librarians, campus IP
administrators, publishers' reps, etc. Being in San Francisco, it ought to
be easier to find local digital people willing to attend the caucus.
